In order to prepare for the nature of direct outreach in a postmodern culture, our team read the book "How Should We Live Then" by Colson & Pearcy. It's an excellent read for an introduction to worldviews, their effects and their results.
Some of the most influential books on the subject of postmodernism would be by Francis A. Schaeffer, including "The God Who Is There," "Escape From Reason," & "How Should We Then Live" (which obviously influenced Colson). First and foremost, this trip is 17 days long and for many team members it's the longest they've been away from home. We'd love to hear from you, so feel free to check back often and comment by clicking on the spaces beneath each entry!
Secondly, pray for the team members and those they'll come in contact with. This ministry is entirely relational...and each day we'll simply be waking up and trying to find someone to share the Gospel with. We'd truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers!

hi-ho hi-ho, it's off to holland we go! ok, we are not quite the seven dwarves and snow white, but we're pretty much the same number. and, i'm not sure if brent makes a good snow white? steve and i are really excited! i've been a bit more fearful, but am excited and thankful (reminding myself to be thankful) to serve god in a missional way. it's an opportunity for me to deepen my trust in my god and to tell others of the trust. traveling is a trial for me most of the time - every trip i take i have this dark outlook like i am going to die. it's silly, but real as a feeling, you know. nonetheless, i know that god has me on this trip for some fantastic reason i may never know, but am willing to accept what he wills regardless if it's comfortable for me or not because that's truly trusting.
i am praying like crazy and am really excited to possibly connect with a girl named iris who was an exchange student from holland and went to ibc with some girls i used to lead, to get to know some of these beautiful crossroads girls and listen to their stories, and spend my 26th birthday in an awesome country with my servant-hearted husband. can i get an amen?
